Skousen Family Reunion

When: July 16-17-18

Where: Near Manti Utah

We will be using Orval Skousen's place and Palisade State Park

I have reserved a 150 person group campsite at the Park. The cost for staying there is $3.00/person/night. I have reserved the campsite for 3 nights (Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday)

We will also be camping at Orval's place. There will be a charge for staying at either place. If you want to have a full RV hookup you will have to reserve your own site at Palisade Park. There are hotels in Manti and I believe there is one in Sterling. I will get more info on this when I go up there in a couple of weeks.

Where and how to get to Skousen Family Camp at 6 Mile Creek for the REUNION

Coming from North to Manti: continue South 5 miles, turn East at the

Palisade State Park sign. Ceder Crest Lodge is on your Left about 2

miles down the road. Just past that, turn Right on the - 6 mile canyon -

dirt road going down. Continue about ½ mile to the first dirt road on

your Left. Turn and follow to the end to a tall grey home with a green

roof.

Coming from South to Gunnison: continue about 7 miles towards Manti. Go

through the tiny town of Sterling and there is a sign about Palisade

State Park, turn East, - you will pass the Ceder Crest Lodge on your

Left about 2 miles down the road, Just past that, turn Right on the - 6

mile canyon - dirt road going down. Continue about ½ mile to the first

dirt road on your Left. Turn and follow to the end to a tall grey home

with a green roof..

Things to do there:

Amenities there or close by, people need to bring their own bed

rolls and towels:

• An enclosed grassy partially shaded area with swings, slide etc for

young children

• Creek running through property. We are not liable, please watch

children. The creek is small in July and August. It is fast and large in

May and June.

• The Bunk house with a bathroom is up a small hill, the bathroom is

available from the outside for tenters.. A drinking faucet is outside of

the bunk house.

• There are parking places up by the bunk house and down by the home.

Probably enough for 25+ cars.

• 20 foam pads for tenters

• 18 mattresses in the bunk house

• Home has a loft with a double bed, twin mattress, queen pad and single

pad

• Home also has 2 bedrooms with a double bed in one and a queen and twin

in the other

• Games in the game room.

• Home has 2 bathrooms

• Volleyball area, ping pong, horse shoes, and croquet outside

• ATV can be rented in town 2 miles away. The county road is often used

for ATV and mountain biking.

• There are parking places for RV’s at Palisade park. Reservations are

required. New large ones are being built right now, with possibly a

tennis court.

• Palisade golf course is great and next to the lake. It is within

walking distance, about ½ mile away.

• Palisade lake is good for swimming & they have canoes & a paddle boat

for rent. No motorized boats.

• There is a designated area at the Lake for fishing. Any where on the

creek by Skousens is okay..

• Fishing rules: Same as any where else, license needed unless you are a

child with a licensed adult..

If baby sitters are needed, let Orval know and he will get a list of local people who may be available.

There is lodging 1 1/2 mile East of Sterling on the way to Palisade Park, only 1/2 mile away from Skousen family camp. It is Ceder Crest Lodge, phone number is 1-435-835-6352. They should

have the new road to Palisade finished by May.
